In a recent study published in Nature, a team of researchers have used a combination of NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope and ground-based observations to examine a pair of gravitationally bound quasars that existed when the universe was only 3 billion years old and are blasting out energy inside two merging galaxies. Quasars, which are propelled by supermassive black holes that eat anything their gravity can get hold of, could be better understood with the help of this study.Artist rendition of two quasars residing in the hearts of two merging galaxies.
