Researchers recently examined the possibility for a novel phosphorus substance that was supposedly produced by a lightning strike in novel Port Richey, Florida, in the summer of 2012. Their findings were published in Communications Earth & Environment. The finding, which was made in a rock, is being hailed as the first novel phosphorus substance to be identified on Earth in solid form.Although identical minerals can be found in meteorites and space, scientists have never seen this substance form naturally on Earth.
