In a recent study that has been accepted to Physical Review D, a group of scientists use computer simulations to look at a fictitious object that supposedly has the appearance and behavior of a black hole, including its purported appearance and light-bending properties, but there’s a chance it could be something else. This research has the potential to advance our knowledge of cosmic objects and their detection.”We were very surprised,” said Dr. Pierre Heidmann, the study’s lead author and a postdoctoral associate at Johns Hopkins University (JHU). “The object looks identical to a black hole, but there’s light coming out from its dark spot.”
