Scientists may be able to focus their hunt for extraterrestrial life thanks to a significant study that was just published in Nature Communications, say researchers at the Max Planck Institute in Germany. This new study explores the possibility that exoplanets may not be able to generate the requisite ozone layers for sophisticated life to both arise and evolve due to the increased ultraviolet (UV) radiation from metal-rich stars. This research relies on earlier Max Planck work from three years ago, which compared our Sun to hundreds of Sun-like stars in the universe. The findings showed that several of those stars have more apparent light variations than our Sun.
