The subject of soft robotics may be expanded by developing robots with more human-like traits thanks to a recent study that was published in Science. Engineers have created synthetic skin that can mend itself. This most recent work may make it easier for scientists to develop synthetic skin with numerous layers that can realign after being damaged, which has previously been a challenge.A 5-layer synthetic skin with self-healing properties that was employed in the investigation, as seen through a digital microscope. Chris Cooper, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University and the study’s lead author, said, “We’ve created what we believe to be the first example of a multi-layer, thin film sensor that autonomously realigns during healing.
